THsi project should be run solely by the youth and its our chance to prove how beneficial our group is as well as how much we can accomplish etc any ideas?

| first of all we have to clean up. Somebody should get in touch with Red Cross and ask them how they are going to do. Usually if they have a lot of people I doubt they bring the trailer/RV.
And then maintain giving snacks, t-shirts, making sure we care for the ones who gave the blood.

| It is most likely going to be on April 22. Please let all of your muslim and non-muslim friends know about this. Events such as these are the first step in building bridges.
Can anybody fin some information on how giving blood is Azadari??

| hey fellas apparently when we decided to do the blood drive we initially started with the idea that it is a form of azadari. I, personally, had to understand why it would be called so, after contacting some scholars with this regard, I got the following answer:
A blood drive is not necessarily azadari in a literal sense. We have two obligations with respect to Imam Husayn (as). One is to keep alive the tradition of mourning. This is what azadari is, and it can take whatever forms are customarily recognized as mourning in a particular culture as long as they are halal. So a blood drive could theoretically be azadari if it fulfills that condition, but it is not necessarily so. The other obligation is to keep alive the memory and message of Imam Husayn (as), even if not specifically through mourning. This is part of "honoring the signs of Allah" that is one of our Islamic obligations, and the Qur'an says that, for example, the mountains of Safa and Marwa are "among the signs of Allah." A blood drive in honor of the Imam (as) is certainly one way of doing this; another way could be to build a hospital or a school in his honor. These could not be called azadari, but they would be part of honoring him and his message. Sometimes the forms of honoring the Imam's message that are chosen in a particular culture are based on having a similarity of some sort to forms of mourning. So the reason that a blood drive was chosen--rather than, say, donating vaccines to needy people--may be because it bears a similarity to zanjeer zani and reminds people of the blood that was shed saving Islam. So even if it is not necessarily a form of mourning itself, it bears similarity to mourning.
