The MUSLIM CONGRESS is a non-profit organization seeking to promote unity among the Muslims of North America. Our goal is to excel and enhance the Muslim cause so that the Muslims become, proud over their Islamic identity, well-informed and successful citizens while retaining the values of the pure Muhammadan (P) Islam—the only true Islam.

Muslim Congress conducts annual islamic conventions in major cities around the US. They will have their 3rd Annual Conference in Orlando, FL. It will take place on the Labor Day weekend Sep. 1-2, 2007.
It is an amazing and interesting experience, and Mashallah it becomes better every year, with newer audiences.

it sure can happen. I've been going to it for the past two years, and usually muslims from major cities come to it in buses/vans... except for Atlanta Sad
If we get enough people, it can happen..

And its usually worth it...

i know that all the church youth groups have like their mission trips and their stuff like that and i think that we should take a field trip like that...plus, if we plan this out and make it work then we can represent ATL muslims in a really positive way..and it will be REALLY fun
.....WHO'S WITH ME HERE!?!

True, and I don't mean to rain on any parades, but practically this would require a bus/carpool to Orlando.

if you are serious... let your parents know... the only reason we started the campaign early this year was so people have time to plan. Inshallah maybe you'll be able to convince your parents to go.

I got room for 2 more peeps in the sequoia. I'll be there day off.

well, regarding the bus/carpool...i think that there is plenty of time to start saving up and with a fundraiser or two we could have enough money to rent a bus.

Unfortunately our funds are limited, and even the idea coffers for fund-raisers are empty. Start brainstorming.

ok... this kind of thing doesnt require money unless you guys really really wanna roll out in a bus.

Carpooling is the most effective strategy. Anybody who has a minivan/SUV... can take a good 6-7 people. There must be atleast one parent/adult chaperone.

If not even that... drive up there with your families. Its a good experience for people of all ages. Then your parents can pay for the admission and rooms. They have family packages. something like $250 for a family of 5 or something like that. and the rooms are like $70 per night.

The only reason I posted this here, is so everybody is just aware of the event. Its a great deal of fun seasoned with Islam and muslims.

i think that is a great idea...we could even say that every memeber has to have a certain number of activities/points or somehting in order to go with us .. or we can all just go .. but honestly there is no point in just posting ideas..if they are not acted on..we have the candy idea, and now this one..but when are we actually going to get together and try to make it happen??

Why would be made fun of?
And what, exactly, is a mission trip?

haha...

I would encourage everybody to think of this more as a muslim/family thing than a youth trip. Right now, we are not at the level to be organizing huge 'mission trips'.
1. too much liability
2. too much money
3. too much liability
4. too much liability.

I am not ruling it out as impossible, but maybe inshallah we'll see how the year goes.

I highly encourage everybody, again, to go with their families.
