Very practical and useful..and it should only take a weekend or two to accomplish. I'm all for it, right after we get some bookshelves.

Thanks Shahmeer... where is your bro at? We will need as many people as possible for all of the projects. we will need help with planning, executing, funding, labor, etc. We hope to get one up and going once we get fully organized InshAllah.

Any updates on those bookshelves? We need to get the before we set a date to actually go and work on those. We should also have some reserve money to spend on lunch. Volunteers must be fed! Cool

we're still waiting on some more $$$... or better yet, we are thinking about some project that will get us more $$$.

we're trying to keep this fairly on the youth side. We dont see it reasonable to bother the board since I'm sure they already have other stuff to worry about.
We raised "some" money from the DVDs. We also have some other fundraisers in mind.
But I think we should come up with simple fundraisers. Something everybody can pitch into. If we have one of those Eid Melas again, we can have our own stall, and have a bakesale or something.

We have a decaying, defunct library in the old building that needs to be (and inshallah soon will be) torn down and replaced. The books are in a condition that Poe would have loved to describe, and the makeshift shelves have more holes in them then a put-put course. Simply put, there is a pile of Islamic books in there, stacked on top of each other; which could possibly go to good use.

If for nothing else, we should do it out of respect for the Islamic texts.

What do you guys say, that we atleast get the books out of the shelves in the ladies dining and put them in boxes, and atleast get the compilation started. Most of the books from the mainhall are also going to be put in boxes. since, they only come out in ramadhan or nights of special aamal.

We'll try to see what we can do about shelves until then.
