| there are a lot of conditions, most of which give us the benefit of the doubt.
1. If the owner is muslim, and he tells you the meat is halaal, then you can trust him. 2. If the owner is not muslim, and he tells you the meat is halaal, you have to investigate further, ask him where is buys his meat, or look for a halaal certificate on display. But then you have to worry about if the person cooking it is ahle kitaab or not (christian, jew, muslim)...

| we should try to get candy companies to switch to vegetable gelatin instead, so that EVERYONE can enjoy their candy. plus they'll make more money | |

| "by-products of the fishery industry began to be considered as raw material for gelatin production because they eliminate most of the religious obstacles surrounding gelatin consumption"
...PREACH
"Vegetarians and vegans may substitute similar gelling agents such as agar, nature gum, carrageenan, pectin, or konnyaku sometimes referred to as "vegetable gelatins" although there is no chemical relationship; they are carbohydrates, not proteins"
you see...there ARE options

| OK, so there are options. But again, if its going to cost them more, they probably aren't going to benefit from it unless theres a large muslim response. | |

| OK; then someone draw up a formal letter to a candy company and we'll vote on it for approval and send it from ZIEC, with attatched signatures. | |

| yes and no...
for one thing, as muslims or as a group, we cannot judge people as to what they say or label them as liars, unless we have witnessed the falsehood ourselves. think of it as a tip of the day kind of thing.
